2017 COSAFA Under-20 Championships – The Venues

The 2017 COSAFA Under-20 Championships will be played at two venues in Kitwe, Zambia from December 6-16. The Nkana Stadium and Arthur Davies Stadium both provide excellent facilities for the players and spectators alike.

Here is a run-down of the two venues:

NKANA STADIUM
Capacity: 10,000
About: The Nkana Stadium has recently had two facelifts and is an excellent facility to host international football matches.   The venue is the home of Zambia Premier League side Nkana FC and twice in the last four years has had improvements done on it.
It has a long history behind it and in 1959 played host to a friendly between touring English side Bolton Wanderers and Northern Rhodesia. More latterly it was used during the 2013 COSAFA Cup that was hosted in Zambia, including for a quarterfinal that involved the hosts, and the Plate final.
The Nkana Stadium is a multi-purpose venue and has a grass pitch.

ARTHUR DAVIES STADIUM
Capacity: 15,500
About: The Arthur Davies Stadium is the larger of the two venues in Kitwe and is the home of Zambia Premier League side Power Dynamos. The venue is named after a former FIFA-accredited referee who gave years of service to the Football Association of Zambia, formed Power Dynamos and also helped develop the stadium.
The venue hosted Group B at the 2013 COSAFA Cup, as well as the two Plate semifinals, and has also had a revamp since that tournament.
The stadium has an eight-lane running track around it and is a multi-purpose venue.
