FIRST TWO THROUGH TO SEMIFINALS

Hosts South Africa and Madagascar both advanced to the semifinals to the Cosafa Senior Challenge on Saturday winning their respective quarter-final ties in Witbank on Saturday.
The South Africans beat Namibia 1-0 in the second of the day’s matches after Madagascar had earlier booked a first-ever semifinal berth in the annual southern African championship.
The Malagasy, who had come through the qualifying tournament earlier in the week, also won by a singe goal, beating Angola.
Praxis Rabemananjara scored an opportunistic goal to hand the Malagasy a win over a youthful Angolan side, who had a rare chance.
It was second goal of his tournament and means the team moves on to Thulamahashe for Wednesday’s semifinal against Botswana and Mozambique.
South Africa scored an early goal from Rooi Mohamuna, whose cracking seventh minute shot was enough to win a tough game against neighbours Namibia.
There were few chances in the match but Namibia looked physically exhausted after four matches in six days.
On Sunday, Zambia and Zimbabwe in Secunda, followed by Botswana’s meeting with Mozambique.
