MAMBAS PLAN STING WITH STRONG SQUAD FOR BOTSWANAMozambique has picked a strong squad for their Cosafa Senior Challenge quarter-final tie against Botswana in Secunda on Sunday, 27 July 2008. Coach Mart Nooij, whose side still has ambitions of progress in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, has named South African Premier Soccer League Player of the Season Domingues in the 20-man party. He has also included veteran striker Tico-Tico, currently transfer listed by Orlando Pirates. Tico-Tico has competed since the inaugural year of the annual southern African championship in 1997 and at one stage was the leading scorer in the competition’s history. Also named are Miro from Wits University and the Lamontville Golden Arrows striker Mauricio, who compliment a strong selection from the Mocambola, the professional league in Mozambique. Both Mozambique and Botswana have been given byes into the last eight of this year’s tournament. Their quarter-final follows Saturday’s clashes between Angola and Madagascar and Namibia, who take on hosts South Arica. On Sunday, Zambia and Zimbabwe meet in the other eagerly anticipated quarter-final tie. Squad: |
