BOTSWANA WARY OF CHAD
Botswana are still revelling in one of their great football triumphs, the 1-0 away win over Tunisia in their 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the weekend.
But the team must now turn their attention to the home fixture with Chad on Friday, where they will be wary of throwing away points against one of the lesser sides in qualifying Group K.
"Given the stature and standing of Tunisia in African football, the performance of the Zebras in this match the was most satisfying and the three points that the team walked away with without doubt are precious. However, beating Tunisia was, and is, not the ultimate goal,” the Botswana Football Association said in a statement.
Coach Stanley Tshosane will be expecting back-to-back wins to put The Zebras in the driving seat in their pool in the early stages of qualifying. His side have never met Chad before, but are positioned 27 places ahead of them in the FIFA World Rankings.
Chad held a depleted Togo to a 2-2 draw in their opener, a surprise in itself, and perhaps a warning to Tshosane and his players.
