BOTSWANA WIN, MALAWI DRAW

A goal early in the second half from Orlando Pirates' Phenyo Mongala handed COSAFA hopefuls Botswana a 1-0 win over Chad in their African Nations Cup Group K qualifier in Gaborone on Friday.

The win is the second in nine days for Botswana, who stunned Tunisia with a 1-0 away win at the start of the qualifiers for the 2012 finals.

Meanwhile, Malawi earned an excellent point in their qualifier away in Togo after a 1-1 draw in Lome.

Midfielder Hellings Mwakasungula gave The Flames the lead in their opening Group K encounter, but the home side equalised in the second half.

The pair will now meet in their next Group K qualifier, a match-up in Blantyre on August 11.
