NEW COACH FOR BOTSWANA CHAMPIONS
Botswana’s champions Gaborone United have brought Mike Sithole back as coach ahead of their weekend match in the African Confederation Cup.
He replaces David Bright, who had only joined the club in March after departing South Africa where he had worked at Cape Town-based Santos and Bay United in Port Elizabeth.
Zimbabwe-born Sithole took Gaborone United to last year’s championship but did not stay on for the new season with the club and was replaced by the former Zambian Manfred Chabinga, who engineered a famous win for the club over Orlando Pirates in the first round of the African Champions League in February.
But despite his success, Chabinga was shown the door just a few weeks later and Bright brought in for what has proved an equally brief spell.
Gaborone United have a fourth round, first leg match against Haras al Hodoud of Egypt in the Botswana capital at the weekend.
