FISH NAMED IN SA SQUAD
Charlton Athletic defender Mark Fish to set to make his first appearance for South Africa in almost four years after being named in an 18-man squad for next month’s World Cup qualifier against the Cape Verde Islands.
Fish, who won the last of his 60 caps in October 2000, returns for the match in Bloemfontein on June 5 at the start of South Africa’s 2006 World Cup campaign.
Fish had previously asked not to be selected for the team to concentrate on his club career in England.
The squad contains juts three players from South African-based clubs and one new call-up, midfielder Elrio van Heerden from FC Copenhagen in Denmark.
