PAITO, FUMO BACK FOR MAMBAS
Mozambique have recalled Sporting Lisbon defender Paito and striker Goncalves Fumo to their squad for the Cosafa Castle Cup match against Malawi on June 13.
Coach Ayman El Yamany has to do without Armando Sa of Benfica, however for the game in Maputo which is the first of this year’s quarter-final ties.
Mozambique beat Madagascar 2-0 in the first round in April to book a meeting with Malawi, who were runners-up in last year’s southern African championships.
Veteran striker Tico-Tico will again leads the Mambas, who have Goncalves Fumo back for the first time since last year. Fumo was formerly on the books of Sporting but now plays for Naval in the second division.
Mozambique, who are not participating in the 2006 World Cup qualifiers after being eliminated by Guinea in the preliminary round last November, are seeking to reach the semifinals of the knockout competition for the first time.
