ANGOLA NEED BOLDNESS TO QUALIFY

Angolan coach Luis Oliveira Goncalves says his players will need a boldness and lack of fear if they are to overcome Rwanda next month and qualify for the 2006 World Cup finals.
Angola need to win their final qualifier away in Kigali on October 8 to reach the finals for the first time and the coach has lauded the efforts of his players in taking the southern African nation to the brink of a trip to Germany.
“Everyone has fulfilled his mission with a high sense of self esteem and professionalism. The players have done everything I’ve asked of them.
“We have developed very nicely along in the qualifiers and we have been overwhelmed by the support that we have received. Everyone is really happy with that.”
“The success of our national side is a collective effort and we have had good support from government and the football association,” the coach added.
“But if we want to go to Germany we know what we have to do. We are obliged to win. We still need to work for that but I think there will be less pressure on us because we already know we have a trip to (the MTN Africa Cup of Nations in) Egypt secured. But with a good programme of preparation I think we can have success in Rwanda.
“Importantly need a boldness from our players. They should not fear anything. If they don’t then we will be the winners,” Oliveira Goncalves said.
