SAGRADA WIN FIRST-EVER ANGOLA TITLE

Sagrada Esperanca, narrowly pipped to the league title last season, went one better on Sunday to take their first ever championship in a dramatic decider with Petro Atletico.
Sagrada went into the game level on points with Petro but a first half goal from international defender Lebo Lebo ensured a 1-0 home win in Dundo and the GiraBola title.
It is the first time in 20 years that the title has been taken by a club based outside of the capital Luanda.
Defending champions AS Aviacao, who had won the title the three previous seasons, finished second on 50 points to also book a place in next year’s African Champions League. They won 2-1 at home over Benfica Luanda.
Sagrada were led to the title by former Angolan national team coach Mario Calado.
Petro Huambo, Academica Lobito and Sporting Bie were all relegated to the second division next year.
