NEIGHBOURS TO MEET

Neighbours Zambia and Zimbabwe, who are both headed to the MTN Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt early next year, are to play each other in a warm-up game on New Year’s Eve.
The match has been scheduled for December 31 but the venue is still to be decided. The timing has been changed to allow both sides to use their vast array of foreign-based professionals.
The majority of both countries’ squads come from the Premier Soccer League in South Africa, which closes for a six-week break just before Christmas.
Zambia and Zimbabwe had originally scheduled their friendly for December 11 but changed the date when it became apparent they would not get their players released from outside clubs in their own country.
The last meeting between the two sides was in the Cosafa Castle Cup in Mmabatho in August, where Zimbabwe proved the victors, beating their northern neighbours for the first time in a competitive international.
