ZAMBIA LIKELY TO BE WITHOUT CAPTAIN

Zambia look likely to have to do without their captain Chris Katongo for Saturday’s Cosafa Castle Cup semifinal against Botswana with officials admitting they had been unable to get hold of him on the eve of the match.
Katongo was named in a 22-man squad for the game at Lusaka’s Independence stadium but last week left his South African cub Jomo Cosmos for trials in Britain.
He was supposed to have gone to premier division Aberdeen but has pitched up at Dundee United instead.
Zambia coach Patrick Phiri said he had no word from Katongo since his departure and was not hopeful of a return in time by the speedy left winger Saturday’s semifinal.
Zambia have also cut their squad by two more players, dropping goalkeeper Rabson Mchelenganga and midfielder Clive Sichiondwe.
Striker Dube Phiri has recovered from an injury sustained in training earlier this week.
