Botswana’s Zebras will have a new coach in time for their trip to Zambia next weekend for the semifinal of the Cosafa Castle Cup.
Englishman Colwyn Rowe has signed a three-year contract and succeeds Serbian Veselin Jelusic.
Botswana Football Association president Phillip Makgalemele said: “The search (for a new coach has been ongoing since November and has taken longer than we anticipated. It is not easy to find a reputable coach within a short period, but I am happy that we managed to get an experienced coach.
"He is in full charge of the team and will be responsible for the failures and successes of the team. In terms of an assistant coach, the coach will have a final word as to who will be his assistant," he said. But Makgalemele said Rowe would work closely with his predecessor, Jelusic and former caretaker coach David Bright to ensure a smooth transition.
Row told reporters in Gaborone: "We'll try to do our best and keep the momentum going. Obviously, I'm aware of the game against Zambia and I'll be a fool if I change things now. I'll work closely with experienced coaches and hopefully, we'll improve when time goes on," said Rowe.
