FORTUNE FOR SOUTH AFRICAN SQUAD

Bolton Wanderers’ new signing Quinton Fortune is due to make his return to the South African side for the first time since March last year after being named on Thursday in a 19-man squad for the African Nations Cup qualifier against Congo next week.
Fortune, who has won 47 caps for South Africa, spent the whole of last season out injured and also missed last week’s 1-0 win against Namibia in a warm-up friendly.
Also returning to the squad is Blackburn Rovers’ new signing Benedict McCarthy, Russian-based midfielder MacBeth Sibaya and Benedict Vilakazi, from Johannesburg club Orlando Pirates.
South Africa host Congo in Johannesburg on September 2 at the start of the qualifiers for the 2008 African Nations Cup finals in Ghana.
The South Africans will be again handled by caretaker coach Pitso Mosimane although Brazilian Carlos Alberto Pareira, who takes over at the start of next year, is planned to be in the crowd.
