Cameroon’s under-23 team inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Botswana’s senior national side in a match played in Gaborone on Saturday to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Botswana’s independence.
Canon Yaounde’s Barnabe Atangana scored the only goal for the Olympic team, who were using the match to warm up for their Beijing 2008 qualifying campaign. Cameroon have a bye in the first round, which is being played this coming weekend.
The goal came seven minutes from the end of the game.
Botswana’s Zebras play again this Saturday against defending champions Egypt in a MTN Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Gaborone.
