Angola international Gilberto is hoping to continue make his comeback for MTN CAF Champions League holders Al Ahli of Egypt later this month as he returns from a 10-montnh injury absence.
Gilberto, who is in Luanda to watch his compatriots take on Kenya on Sunday in their MTN Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, says he hopes to play in Al Ahli’s next league game after a brief taste of action in Al Ahli’s 4-0 win over high flying Al Ittihad of Alexandria on September 21.
The left wingback tore his Achilles tendon in a friendly international against Morocco on the eve of the start of the MTN Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt at the start of the year and missed the tournament as well as the World Cup finals.
He is not registered by Al Ahli for this year’s MTN CAF Champions League, which mans he cannot play in the upcoming semifinal, second leg tie against ASEC Abidjan of Cote d’Ivoire on October 16.
