Angolan midfielder Maurito, forced to miss last year’s World Cup finals in Germany because of injury, scored on his national team comeback as his country were held to a 1-1 draw in Eritrea in their MTN Africa Cup of Nations Group Six qualifier on Saturday.
Maurito, who plays his club football in United Arab Emirates, netted just three minutes after coming on as a substitute for captain Figueiredo midway through the second half.
His 62nd minute effort saw Angola come back after conceding a 17th minute goal to Eritrea defender Elias Ali Abubeker.
The draw needed Angola’s 100 percent record in the qualifiers but they still have a comfortable five point lea in the standings.
Angola had beaten Eritrea 6-1 in their last group match in Luanda in March.
