Senegal moved ahead of Tanzania on goal difference and also have a better head to head record than the east Africans.
Tanzania scored an upset 1-0 away win against Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou on Saturday, setting up their chance of a first appearance at the Nations Cup finals since 1980 – their only previous trip to the tournament.
