World Cup hosts South Africa continue their preparation for the 2010 finals with friendlies against Scotland, Italy and the USA this year, the South African Football Association said on Thursday.
South Africa will meet Scotland at Pittordie in Aberdeen on August 22, play the Italians away on October 17 and hosts the Americans in November 17.
The venues for the last two matches must still be decided, the association said.
The friendlies are in line with coach Carlos Alberto Parreira’s insistence that South Africa play top-class opponents in order to best prepare for their hosting of the 2010 World Cup finals.
South Africa also have one more African Nations Cup qualifier remaining this year, needing to avoid defeat at home against Zambia in Cape Town on September 8 to qualify for the next finals in Ghana next January.
