Two long-standing Cosafa Castle Cup rivalries will be renewed in the semifinals of this year’s competition, after the draw conducted at SAFA House in Johannesburg on Friday.
Zambia and Mozambique play in the competition for the sixth time while Botswana will meet South Africa in the final four after their shock upset win over Bafana Bafana last year.
Zambia have won four of the last five meetings and also advanced on post-match penalties after the fifth game, which was a 1-1 draw in the 1999 quarter-finals.
South Africa lost on post-match penalties to Botswana last year in Gaborone. The game will be their fourth in the Cosafa Castle Cup.
Both semifinals matches are set for a bumper double header at the Germiston stadium in Johannesburg on September 29.
Mozambique and Zambia will kick off at 14h00, followed by the meeting between Botswana and South Africa at 16h00.
The winners advance to the final on Oct. 27, the final of which will be determined after the semifinals.
