MAURITIUS COACH QUITS JOB

Mauritius coach Sarjoo Gowreesunkur has resigned his job after the country failed to pick up a medal at the recently completed Indian Ocean Island games in Antananarivo.
Gowreesunkur said he had failed in his objective to win the gold medal after putting together a strong and well prepared side.
Mauritius lost Saturday’s bronze medal game to Mayotte, the French-controlled island who are not FIFA members and rarely play any international football.
Mayotte won on post-match penalties after a 1-1 draw at the end of the extra time.
Gowreesunkur won only a single match in nine games in charge since taking over one year ago. He had a previous spell as coach in 1996.
Reunion, another non-FIFA member, won gold by beating hosts Madagascar 7-6 on penalties after a goalless draw in their match in Antananarivo.
