South African international Gift Leremi died in a car accident on Monday night, flung from his vehicle as it skidded out of control in Johannesburg.
Leremi, 22, had just returned from Cameroon where he played for MTN-sponsored South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns in an African Confederation Cup match on Saturday.
He joined Sundowns during the off-season after five season at Orlando Pirates, the last one of which he battled with alcohol addiction problems and made just one league start.
Leremi, who scored twice since his move to Sundowns, won four caps for South Africa, the last two years ago at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the USA.
