Zambia face having to re-jig their squad for next weekend’s Cosafa Castle Cup semifinals in Atteridgevile after South African clubs said they would not release key players for the match on September 29 against Mozambique.
Caretaker coach Fighton Simukonda named six players from the South African Premier Soccer League in his squad for the match but will now only likely be able to use Free State Stars goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene and the uncapped Noan Chivuta.
Instead he will forced to name several uncapped players for the game at the Super stadium and says he has put several on stand-by already..
Likely now to miss the match are Mweene's club mate Kampamba Chintu plus defenders Billy Mwanza and Joseph Musonda of Lamontville Golden Arrows and striker Songwe Chalwe of Moroka Swallows.
They are needed by their respective clubs for South African League Cup matches next weekend.
