BAFANA BAFANA SQUAD FOR FINAL

South Africa have handed a first call up to Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Brent Carelse but gone with a familiar look in their 22-man squad for Wednesday’s Cosafa Castle Cup final in Bloemfontein.

Carelse is one of three uncapped players in the locally-based team named by coach Carlos Alberto Parreira.

But Mokete Tsotetsi from Kaizer Chiefs and Lamontville Golden Arrows’ Kagiso Senamela have both previously received call-ups.

Tsotetsi, however, had to withdraw from the semifinal win over Botswana last month because of club commitments while Senamela did not play in the 1-0 semifinal win at Atteridgeville.

Parreira has retained six players from the squad that competed against world champions Italy on Wednesday.

They are defenders Brett Evans, Bevan Fransman, Vuyo Mere and Benson Mhlongo; the Jomo Cosmos midfielder Bamuza Sono and Israeli-bound striker Thembinkosi Fanteni.

South Africa play Zambia in the final seeking to win the trophy for only the second time. Zambia beat South Africa 3-1 in Cape Town last month in an African Nations Cup qualifier.
