Young Mares coach names her provisional squad

Botswana Under-20 ladies team coach Jacqueline Gaebinelwe has named her squad for the AUSC Region 5 tournament will be held in Gaborone from December 6-16.

The team is currently in camp and they are no changes in the team. Most of the players featured in last year’s world cup under 17 and 20 qualifiers but failed to go through as they were knocked out by Kenya and South Africa respectively.

Gaebinelwe was worried about her team preparations because some of the players are inactive as the league in their respective regions are yet to start. She is somehow relieved as most of her players have finished writing their final examinations.

“We have rectified our defending as we were conceding a lot and I believe by the time the competition starts we will be more than ready. We are even boosted by the inclusion of Lesego Radiakanyo who was part of the Botswana Women senior team which participated in COSAFA women’s championship that was recently held in Port Elizabeth and she scored against Malawi. My aim is to win a silverware with my team,’’ Gaebinelwe said

Botswana is in Group A and has been drawn against Zimbabwe, Malawi and Lesotho. Group winner and runner up will proceed to the semi finals.
