South Africa are four-time champions of the COSAFA Cup, but last lifted the trophy in 2016 and will be hoping to get back to winning ways when the tournament is staged in Nelson Mandela Bay from July 6-18.
They have a squad packed with talent and have been drawn in a group that also includes Botswana, Eswatini and Lesotho, who are all tricky opponents, but will enter the competition as one of the pre-tournament favourites.
We have put together all the facts and figures on their history in the regional showpiece event, which dates back to their first entry in 1998 – every match, every scorer, winning and losing streaks, and their record against each opponent.
We will be releasing media packs for each of the 12 competing sides at this year’s tournament between now and the start of the competition.
